Call for tender: Mapping, Forest Action Plan Preparation and Capacity Building and Backstopping on Forest Degradation, Forest Landscape Restoration and Climate Change Adaptation

For more than 120, Nature and Biodiversity Conservation Union (NABU) has been promoting the interests of people and nature, drawing on its unwavering commitment, specialized expertise, and the backing of its 770,000 members and supporters. NABU is Germany’s oldest and largest conservation NGO with its headquarter in the capital, 15 regional branch offices almost every federal state of Germany. 2,000 volunteer groups in Germany supports NABU’s work.

For many years, NABU has also been internationally active, particularly in Africa, the Caucasus and Asia. Since 2010 NABU is registered as an international NGO in Ethiopia and has since gained a wide-ranging experience in the implementation of projects in the country. Some of the core topics NABU is working on in Ethiopia are planning and establishment of UNESCO biosphere reserves, adaptation to climate change, reforestation and forest management incl. participatory forest management, sustainable regional development for livelihood improvement, landscape restoration and capacity building.

NABU is seeking an experienced consultant for Forest Mapping, Forest Action Plan Preparation and Capacity Building and Backstopping on Forest Degradation, Forest Landscape Restoration and Climate Change Adaptation for its project entitled “Forests for Future: Developing forest landscapes for livelihoods and climate adaptation in Southwest Ethiopia”, in partnership with Ethio Wetlands and Natural Resources Association (EWNRA), at Kafa, Sheka and Bench-Sheko zones. This assignment will take longer duration and involves the production of various maps, ground-truthing, provision of ToTs and backstopping of field training as well as piloting of Forest Action Plans.
